Blephasteam and Meibomian Gland Dysfunction

Blephasteam is the first convenient eyelid warming device recommended to relieve symptoms of Meibomian Gland Dysfunction and associated diseases such as posterior blepharitis, meibomitis, ocular rosacea, chalazion, contact lens intolerance and Dry Eye.

Blephasteam provides a moist heat therapy. This dual action unblocks the meibomian glands, improves the tear quality, and improves symptoms, ocular health, vision and comfort.

Based on the original scientific studies of Dr JR Fuller the Blephasteam device has been developed by Laboratoires Théa, a leading ophthalmologic company specialized in lid care and designed in collaboration with eye care specialists.

It is well established that Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD) conditions involve an alteration in the quality of the tear film lipid layer. A daily application of heat and humidity on the eyelids has a beneficial effect upon various Meibomian Gland Dysfunction conditions.

How to use Blephasteam

Blephasteam is a medical device that can be recommended to you by your eye care specialist.

Your optometrist will let you know if you should use Blephasteam for the standard two sessions per day, or if your particular case would benefit from more or less sessions per day.

Your eyes will require at least four hours between sessions - don't use more frequently than this, even if you are recommended to use it multiple times a day and have missed a session.

It is important to follow the included operating instructions and the recommendations of your eye care professional.

The device must be used with wetted Blephasteam rings. These rings are for single use only and must be replaced for each session.

The Blephasteam device must be used by a single individual only and must be cleaned carefully after each use.
